Piglet’s Playgroup is open every weekday from 08h00 to 12h00, with an early drop off available. Aftercare is now offered from 12:00 until 17:00 and ‘Timeshare slots’ are also available.
A typical day at Piglet’s begins at 8:00am with free play inside the Piglet’s classrooms. The children are guided through activities, with the focus on fine motor skill development, developmental games and assessments of their progress. Thereafter, weather permitting, they have a free play with the outside facilities (consisting of swings, bike track, sand pit, jungle gyms, trampoline, see saws, rockers and bouncers and a ball play zone).
The children then return to their classroom for circle time during which they are encouraged to share stories, sing and discuss various themes with the teachers and each other. The children move into snack time and then art time, which is another opportunity to work on their fine motor skills, in a fun and engaging manner.
After art time, the children are ready for more outside activities (including extracurricular Playfit, Little Kickers, Pottery, Ballet and Wiggle and Jam). After a busy fun filled day it is story time and home time at 12pm unless children are to stay for aftercare.
Aftercare is offered with a healthy lunch and fruit snack (weekly menu is available on the Shutterfly site). After lunch, the children are encouraged to have a nap/rest and then allowed "free play" in our fantastic grounds.
We follow private school terms but only break for part of the holidays. The playgroup closes in the second week of December.
The Piglet’s school year is divided into trimesters running from January to April, May to August and September to December.
Bi-annually, Piglet’s sends out a report and a parent's evening is hosted mid-year for the teachers and parents to discuss the progress of the child. There are also special outings, celebrations and projects planned throughout the school year, culminating with the Piglet’s Concert and End of Year Party.
